What is the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Tests)?
SAT stands for Scholastic Aptitude Tests or the Scholastic Assessment Tests. The SAT is the biggest standardized college admission test and is an important requirement for college application in the United States. SAT is owned by a non-profit private organization in the United States called the College Board. The SAT measures a candidate’s skills in three areas, mainly on Critical Reading, Math and Writing.
It tests the candidate’s command of English language in reading and writing, along with logical reasoning skills in mathematics. The SAT is offered seven times annually for entry to undergraduate programs in most American universities. In the Critical Reading section, candidates will test on their comprehension of texts such as literary themes, physical sciences, social sciences and humanities.
In the Math section, candidates will be tested based on their understanding in different areas of Mathematics such as complex equations or function, linear equations and ratios, percentages and proportional reasoning. Calculators are only allowed to use on the certain part of the math section.
